Sekondi/Takoradi: Election of Presiding Member postponed + Names of gov’t appointees

bankofghanatakoradi-02Total Elected Members…..48 + West Tanokrom which is pending before court
Total Government Appointees……..23
Overall Total Membership…71 + West Tanokrom which is pending

*All the 71 members hve been successfully sworn in paving way for the Election of PM
*This has become the bone of contention as non of the two contestants have been able to get the required 2/3 (48 votes) to go through

* Yusif Gyamson who is a former Assembly Member for Adiembra and now a Government Appointee and a highly perceived NDC sympathiser and John Davies who is one of the longest serving Elected members and a known NPP activist had 39 and 32 votes respectively in both the 1st and 2nd round

*Third round of voting has been postponed to Monday, October, 11
Should any of the candidates fail to get the 2/3 in the third round, the 2 candidates would be disqualified to make way for another Nominee/Nominees
The Assembly has now been put on hold till a PM is elected

*A similar stalemate occurred in the last Assembly when Prince Armah then an Assembly Member for Adiembra and an NPP activist contested Muhammad Ali h
It took the intervention and lobbying skills of some officials before Ali finally got the nod

*I am expecting a playback of the same episode some 4 years ago.
But I am afraid some assembly members who are NPP sympathisers would remain unyieldingly adamant
My deep throat source reveals the NPP sympathisers want to take the Presiding Member Seat and give the MCE seat peacefully to the NDC

*Muhammad Ali, the immediate past presiding member is now aspiring to go to parliament on the ticket of the NDC at Effia constituency
He’s being challenged in the Primaries by one Michael Otoo.
