Prez. Mahama warns NPP

nana-addo-mahama1-566x253Internal power struggle in the New Patriotic Party has recently led to the death of two party members and as President of Ghana; John Mahama has vowed not to tolerate such blood shedding under his watch.

On 21st May, 2015, a former Upper East Regional Chairman for the NPP, Mahama Adams, passed on after he was showered with acid by some assailants while he drove home from work.

Flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo was first to come out and condemn the attack, describing the situation as “sad”.

President Mahama didn’t also shy away from commenting on the issue and publicly asked the police to bring the perpetrators to book.

Just last week, Abubakar Saddiq, a 37-year-old spare parts dealer and member of the NPP was stabbed in the neck area and butchered with a machete in addition for protesting against his constituency chairman’s  decision to drag some few party members to Accra to show solidarity with their embattled National Chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko.

Speaking in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, President Mahama was again forced to remind members of the NPP not do things which would amount to the loss of human lives.

The things that are happening- the acid bath is wrong and I told the police to pursue justice to its final conclusion. And then recently, another supporter was stabbed; it isn’t acceptable!” he warned.

There is no place in our politics for this kind of violence. No amount of political power is worth shedding the drop of blood of any single Ghanaian. Politics is not a life and death struggle. Politics is live and let’s live”, he advised.
