Kufour criticizes management of school feeding programme

prezkufour1Former President John Kufour has criticized government’s handling of the School Feeding Programme.

President Kufuor points to the politicization of the initiative as a major setback to achieving the original objectives of the initiative. Mr. Kufuor supervised the introduction of the programme when he was president.

Speaking at the launch of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition in Accra, Mr. Kufuor said the management of the programme under the current government is poor.

“The programme can be improved and sustained in a much better way than it is going so far”, he told the press.

He said the programme was meant to be a local initiative that will involve farmers and women especially, but that is not what is happening currently.

“That is not the way to go”, he said.
