NPP to Prez. Mahama: “Bawumia is competent to criticise you”

bawumia-mahama-620x400The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hit back at President Mahama’s recent comments that the party’s running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has no basis to describe him as an incompetent leader.

At a press conference in Accra, Wednesday, the Acting Chairman of the party, Mr Freddie Blay, expressed despair over the president’s comments, saying, “We do not think it’s fair on the President for us to compare Dr Bawumia to him.”

In their opinion, Dr Bawumia is “competent” to criticise him in the sense that, “Dr Bawumia is not incompetent. Dr Bawumia is not corrupt and Dr Bawumia knows about economic management.”

President Mahama last Monday said at an NDC forum in Accra that it was not for the NPP and its leaders to criticise him, saying, “Do they know what it takes to be President to be saying incompetent Mahama administration? My competence is for the people of Ghana to judge and not the NPP.”

But in a rebuttal, Mr Freddie Blay said, “Ghanaians must vote the president out. I’m sorry, in fact, he has issued an executive order that only two people in Ghana have the privilege and right to question his performance and he has named those two eminent people, the two living former presidents of our republic.”

“The rest of us have no competence to question his competence or incompetence… We do not think it’s fair on the President for us to compare Dr Bawumia to him,” he said.
