Prez. Mahama must sack Kwabena Donkor if… – Power Expert

726599446_268131Power Expert Kwadwo Poku is suggesting to President John Mahama to show Power Minister, Kwabena Donkor, the exit if the debilitating load shedding does not end by December this year.

Kwadwo Poku says unfounded promises by politicians have contributed to the seeming hopelessness in a government roadmap to end the power crisis.

“If I was His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and on 31st December Honourable Donkor does not resign, I would sack him,” the power expert said Tuesday on PM Express news analysis programme.

In March this year, Kwabena Donkor, vowed to work towards ending the load shedding before the end of December. He promised to resign from his post if he fails to achieve this.

“At least the end of the year is December so you can hold me to that. Yes I will resign”, was his reply to a query by Joy News’ Elton John Brobbey demanding if Ghanaians would be justified in calling for his head if the situation persists by close of 2015.

A month to the deadline, power pundits doubt that the Power Minister can fulfill his promise.

Speaking on PM Express on Joy News channel on Multi TV, Kwadwo Poku said it would be an indictment on President Mahama’s administration if Kwabena Donkor remains at post after the December deadline proves elusive.

“The reason I would do that is not because I think he is competent or not competent, but I would like to set an example to my ministers that if you can’t do something, don’t promise Ghanaians because my Presidency means business,” Kwadwo Poku explained.

He said the current power crisis has been contributed partly by politicians who make promises without consulting the relevant engineers on the field.

He suggests the politicians stay away from  the Engineers and allow them to do their job.
