There is one thing every Ghanaian appreciates, that aside from the assurance of persistent, irregular and unpredictable electric power outages christened ‘dumsor,’ the best place to celebrate Christmas is in Sekondi-Takoradi, the twin capital city of the Western Region of Ghana.
This is one of the many undeniable facts about Sekondi-Takoradi, alias Oil City. This unsung fact in Ghana has prompted Kofi Kinaata to release a song, ‘Made in Tadi’ which according to him ‘’is the official Christmas and Westside anthem’’ In his own words, Kinaata told www.233times.net, ‘’We all know that Sekondi-Takoradi is the best place to celebrate Christmas, it won’t take a prophet to tell you that but little is said about it so I had to do a song to let everyone know how we do it here, especially those who have not had the privilege of celebrating the occasion in the Oil City before.” He added ”This is the official Christmas and West side anthem.’’
In the song, Kinaata mentions most of the masquerade (fancy-dress) clubs and particularly highlights the indefatigable 25th December marching of these clubs through the principal streets of the Oil City. Popular suburbs of Sekondi-Takoradi are mentioned to give a ‘privileged-visitor’ the map to where to catch all the fun.
The song begins with the popular mantra of Sekondi-Takoradi’s famous serial-caller Ekow Appiah.
To the fans and non-fans alike, watch out for the reason why you need to consider Sekondi-Takoradi in your schedules this Christmas season via this brass band-mid tempo song ‘Made in Tadi’ which is due for release 11th December, 2015.
