The office of Akua Donkor, the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party located at Kabu along the Koforidua-Akropong Highway in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region was gutted by fire on Friday afternoon.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that computers, printers, desks, plastic chairs, stationery, Kente cloths, ceiling fans, the party’s constitution, were destroyed by the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been established but the paper learnt that rivets and a container with liquid believed to be petrol were found there.
A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, told DAILY GUIDE that a taxi driver informed them that Akua Donkor’s party office was on fire, adding that when they rushed there almost all the building was on fire so they called the Ghana National Fire Service that moved to the scene to quench the fire.
The resident further said that the fire might have been caused by an electrical faulty.
Akua Donkor, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, alleged that a certain Agyenim Boateng conspired with some NPP moles to set her party office on fire.
“Agyenim Boateng and the NPP used petrol to burn my office. I was in Accra when I had information that my office was in flames. When I came, there was a gallon containing petrol at the back of the office.
“They allegedly broke the rivets of the office building and poured the petrol into the room and set it on fire,” Akua Donkor asserted.
Akua Donkor further hinted that when the Electoral Commission (EC) demanded some documents from her, some three members, led by Agyenim Boateng, allegedly forged her documents and sent them to the EC.
She said the culprits were later arrested and granted bail.
The flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party claimed she has received threatening phone calls from NPP members.
“After they stole the documents, they set an agenda to burn down my office which they have done. All my office equipment have been destroyed, including the Kente I bought from Italy and some undisclosed amount. The NPP did that because they are threatening to kill me that’s why they went ahead to set my office on fire in order to destroy my original documents,” Akua Donkor asserted.
Akua Donkor hinted that her outfit had reported the matter to the New Juaben Municipal Police Command which has launched investigation into it.
