Sekondi: Family blames Ambulance Driver for death of relative

picture-of-ambulance-620x330Efua Ackon had gone to Sekondi from Kojokrom on friday evening around 5pm to inform her elder brother(Kofi Annan) about the demise of thier elder sister’s husband in Kumasi. After breaking the news, Kofi Annan decided to drop off Efua Ackon at Kojokrom on his motorbike.

On their way to Kojokrom, a tipper truck reportedly knocked down the two at a spot near the Regional Coordinating Council in Sekondi. The two were rushed to the Essikado Polyclinic being the closest health facility.

However due to the critical nature of the woman’s condition, she had to be transferred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital (ENRH). Sadly and strangely, the driver of the only ambulance for the hospital had reportedly packed it and taken the keys home.

Many calls placed by the nurses at Essikado Hospital for the driver were not responded to. The lady was then rushed to the ENRH in a taxi but it was too late as no sooner had they arrive at the facility than she gave up the ghost!

The elder brother, Kofi Annan in his 50s,(The Motorbike rider) who also sustained some injuries is currently on admission at the same Hospital whilst the body of Efua Ackon, about 42, has been deposited at the Hospital Morgue.
