police-calming-down-angry-youth-at-atulbabisi-660x330The life of the Chief of Apremdo, a community in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region has been threatened by assassins. The incident has put the traditional ruler,Nana Egya Kwamena XI, and the Apremdo Traditional Council on high alert. Nana Kwamena XI however complains the Police is not giving him the needed protection in spite of the threat.

In an interview on Skyy Power fm’s Headline News, Nana Egya Kwamena XI disclosed that on the 30th of January, 2016, a group of young men on a visit to him confessed that they had been contracted by a woman named Joana, to assassinate him. Apparently, the young men came forward with the story because they were unwilling to carry out the assignment.

According to the Chief, the young men advised him report the case to the Police as they were willing to serve as witnesses.

The Paramount Chief said he followed their advice but there has been no concrete response from the Police since his report. He said the Police told him they are finding it difficult to apprehend the woman in question. He was informed that whenever they go to her house, she is not there.

In his frustration, the chief reported the case to the Western Region Minister, who instructed the Regional Crime Officer to prioritize the investigation as it involved human life.

Nana Kwamena XI told Skyy News’ Daniel Dadzie he has still not heard from the Police.
