Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of Real Madrid’s game against Athletic Bilbao and said that Gareth Bale will not play again until he has fully recovered from his injury.
“Bale will play when he’s 100% fit. I won’t say when that’s going to happen. We only want players who are fully fit. I want Gareth 100%, not 80% or 85%. It’s normal for a player to possibly relapse when he has a problem and we aren’t going to take any risks with him”, said the Real Madrid boss.
On Bale’s relapse: “Bale felt some discomfort whilst he was recovering. We can’t say why things happen and there’s no point dwelling on Bale’s injury. There’s nothing we can do. I’m not taking any risks if he’s in any discomfort”.
On the Spanish Cup final: It’s up to the club whether or not the Spanish Cup final is played at the Bernabéu. Every country has its own rules. What I care about is the game against Athletic”.
On Kovacic deputising for Marcelo: “Kovacic is going to play from the start. I’m telling you this because I want to”.On Aduriz being Athletic’s most dangerous player: “Aduriz is 35 years old but doesn’t seem it. Athletic are a very strong and very good side. We know who we’re up against”.
