The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied allegations that Dr. Mensa Otabil, head Pastor of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), is a member of the party.
Though sections of Ghanaians were of the view that the Head Pastor of ICGC is a staunch member of the NPP on account that he declines various invitations extended to him by the current administration but accepts that of the NPP, the largest opposition party dismissed his membership.
Mr Agyei Sowah, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NPP told The General Telegraph in an interview that since he became an official and an executive member of the NPP after playing several leadership roles, he has never come across the name of Dr Mensa Otabil in their books.
“To be frank, I have never come across his name in our records. I have every record of our card bearing members. It cannot be said that Pastor Otabil is our member. It is erroneous and unfortunate.”
According to him, Mensah Otabil as a preacher is determined to preach about well-beings of Ghanaians and the ills of the society.
He argued that the statement of Dr Otabil was misconstrued.
“He is a preacher and he was advising the future leaders to learn how to transom the nation asking them to be miles ahead. People are quoting him out of context,” he said.
