All radio stations in Ghana are expected to play strictly Ghanaian music on Wednesday, March 2 as part of the Ghana Music Week 2016 Festival.
This follows discussions between the MUSIGA President Bice Osei Kuffour and the Executive Director of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA ) Gloria Hiadzie. The Ghana Music Day is part of the activities lined up for Ghana Music Week 2016.
To mark the day, radio and television stations in Ghana are expected to play Ghana music exclusively that day. According to the MUSIGA President, the decision to set aside the day is to herald the good music made in Ghana and is also due to the absence of the Information Bill which will regulate the amount of both Ghanaian and foreign music that can be played on Ghanaian airwaves.
On her part, the GIBA Executive Secretary, Gloria Hiadzi commended MUSIGA for the initiative and expressed GIBA’s readiness to partner the Union for such an ideal. Miss Hiadzi expressed the association’s willingness to partner with MUSIGA in the promotion of the entertainment business in Ghana.
The meeting also discussed other areas of possible collaboration between MUSIGA and GIBA. Present at the meeting were the Administrator of MUSIGA Rev Fiifi Khan Agyarkwah and the Director of Special Projects and Communications AhumaBoscoOcansey.
