In what could be perceived as a sign of mistrust for the law enforcement agencies, a Man who arrested a suspected thief in Takoradi rather chose to chain him for over four hours and freed him afterwards.
According to Ekow Opan who is a transporter living at STMA Quarters in Takoradi, he was woken up by the loud barking of his watch Dogs around 3am on Monday, May 2, and to his utter amazement, he spotted a young man believed to be in his twenties siting on the driver’s seat of his sprinter Vehicle.
He quickly rushed to grab him, and upon questioning, the suspect who only gave his name as Kwesi, claiming to hail from Komenda in the Central region started pleading with him for leniency, saying he had wanted to come and search if he could get some money for food because he was hungry.
However upon further checks on the Vehicle, Mr Opan realised that, there had been an attempt to remove the tape recorder
This infuriated him to put the suspect in chains and left for work. He called Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson to inform him around 7:30 am when he was advised to go and loose him and hand him over to the police
Mr Opan quickly obliged and rushed back home from work to loose him but rather allowed him to go Scot free.
