A mate of an articulated truck with registration number 11-HL-4886 was gunned down by armed robbers in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region.
The awful incident occurred about 2:00 AM, Friday on the Bolga-Navrongo road, where the vehicle was parked after developing some fault.
The vehicle is believed to have been travelling to Burkina Faso from Accra.
Narrating the incident to Peace news, Police Constable Felix Agyei, said the alleged armed robbers emerged from the bush to attack the deceased, Latiff, his colleague, Francis Osei and the driver, whose name was only given as Baba.
According to him, the victims were robbed of an amount of GHC 4,000.
After the robbery, he added, the armed robbers asked them to lie prostrate and opened fire on them resulting in the untimely demise of one of the mates, Latiff.
The driver survived but sustained severe injuries in the gun attack and is responding to treatment at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
The alleged armed robbers are on the run after successfully embarking on the robbery expedition.
