Africa is rising, there is no question about that. Happy AU Day.
In a brief tweet Wednesday morning, he said: “Africa is rising, there is no question about that. Happy AU Day”.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister, Ms Hanna Tetteh, urged leaders of the continent to put in place the necessary structures to bring the private sector and civil society onboard the implementation of the AU Agenda 2063 in order to create an inclusive union.
The Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over the next 50 years. It is builds on, and seeks to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development.
“To achieve that, we will need to create new platforms to bring on board the private sector & civil society to create an inclusive union,” Ms Tetteh said in a series of tweets Wednesday to mark the 53rd anniversary of the African Union.
She said it is imperative for African leaders to look beyond the past vision of the African Union by considering how to create a united continent and also the structures that it will require to achieve that.
“Today as we celebrate Africa Day, let’s not just look to the past vision that united Africans in our aspiration for a united continent. Let’s think about what we need to do to create that united African continent, what that structure would look like & how we’ll achieve it” she said.
She added: “In creating our united Africa, my personal view is that we should create the platforms for our people to drive policy & political integration”
