Man butchers wife for refusing to accept second wife

561619338_289094A young lady of about 28-years old has severely been butchered by her husband in Akatsi for refusing to accept his decision to marry a second wife.

The victim, Fortune Dzotefe, fire service personnel under the National Youth Employment Programme who suffered deep cutlass wounds on her face and arms with some of her fingers mutilated is currently on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital receiving treatment.

Meanwhile the suspect, Emmanuel Adome, a teacher at Wlutey RC Basic School is on the run and being sought by the police in Akatsi.

Misunderstanding 

According to sources the victim had a misunderstanding with the husband over the issue of marrying a second wife and for some time now had been separated with the husband.

The suspect is also said to have refused the victim access to their daughter.

Fortune on Saturday June 18 around 10:00pm reportedly went to her husband’s house to pick her child but Adome prevented her and further requested that she spent the night with him.

Fortune based on her decision not to stay with her husband until he rescinded his decision for a second wife refused to spend the night with Adome.

Out of anger, Adome allegedly pulled a cutlass and inflicted wounds on Fortune.

Police investigating 

In an interview, the Akatsi South District Police Commander, Superintendent Dennis Fiakpui indicated that the police on the said date had a call that a man had butchered his wife around 10:30pm and subsequently moved to the place.

‘When we arrived, we saw only the woman in a pool of blood and rushed her to the hospital’ he said.

The commander who said the police have started investigating the matter appealed to the general public to assist the police locate the whereabouts of the suspect and get him arrested.
