Vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on Ghanaians to discount the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo because he has no track record.
He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over from the NPP because of its non-performance under the leadership of former President John Agyekum Kufuor hence his boss John Mahama deserves a second term to “keep transforming Ghana.”
Addressing NDC supporters in the Ahafo Ano South constituency of the Ashanti region over the weekend, Mr. Amissah-Arthur stated Nana Addo is struggling to ride on the record of Kufuor because “he is sacking all the Kufuor men, so what record is he riding on?”
Mr. Amissah-Arthur also entreated his party folks to remain focused going into the December 7 polls because the main opposition will continue to resort to dirty politics to derail their campaign.
While encouraging every NDC member to be active in the campaign “from door to door”, he appealed to them to allow a peaceful atmosphere to prevail “before, during and after the elections” because development thrives on peace.
He urged them to guard against “complacency and work tirelessly until victory is achieved”.
Other speakers included former national organiser of the NDC Yaw Boateng Gyan, Ashanti regional Minister Alexander Ackon, NDC Ashanti Regional chairman Mr Yaw Obimpeh and the deputy Ashanti regional Minister and Mr Gabriel Barimah, the District Chief Executive of the area.
