It was a nightmarish experience for a 26 year old cabbie from the Sekondi / Takoradi Metropolis when he virtually came face to face with death after being attacked by an assailant who hired him on Monday night around 11:30 pm.
According to the driver of a Daewoo Taxi car with registration number AS 7337-Z, the suspect approached him at Effiakuma Taxi Rank in the Central Business District area in Takoradi and asked him to take him to Kojokrom, another suburb in the Metropolis.
Upon approaching a spot near the Assemblies of God church in the community, the suspect further asked him to branch to an untarred road which he obliged.
According to the cabbie, no sooner had he taken to that route than the suspect, very lanky and wearing an ivorian branded T-Shirt pulled a knife and tried stabbing him on the ribs.
He started struggling with the suspect till he was able to overpower him and tried crushing the passenger side of the vehicle into a nearby pole in other to weaken him (the suspect) but sensing danger, he quickly opened the door and fled whilst the vehicle was in motion.
The brave driver drove in pain with blood oozing from his badly butchered body back to the Taxi Rank where his colleagues took over the car and drove him to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for attention.
A report has since been made to the Takoradi Central Police whilst the driver is responding to treatment.
