I used 40 constituencies as sample frame for ‘Mahama victory’ poll – Ben Ephson

Ben-EphsonPollster Ben Ephson has revealed that he used forty constituencies across the country as the sample frame for his prediction that President John Mahama will win the December 7, polls.

According to him, although the survey gives a 2% error margin, there is no doubt by his team that the NDC’s candidate will retain the presidency in a one-touch victory.

The new poll says Mr. Mahama will secure 52.4% while New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to chalk 45.9% with the other parties claiming a meagre 1.7%.

Speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr Monday, the Daily Dispatch publisher said he has absolute confidence in his methodology, which he has been using for the past 16 years.

“We have a 2% error margin and it means John Mahama will win the elections. So far we have used 40 constituencies to derive our percentage. This is the 5th prediction we have made so far….previous predictions came to pass,” he stated.

Mr. Ephson who has a reputation in political surveys in Ghana however said he will not disclose the names of the constituencies he used for the poll.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, to elect a president and parliamentarians. The frontrunners are President Mahama who is seeking a second term and the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo who is making a third attempt at the Presidency.
