Police shuts down West Link FM

2153656_orig-620x406The Police Command in Lawra, Upper West region has indefinitely shut down West Link FM over security concerns.

A statement issued by Chairman of the Lawra District Security Committee (DISEC) Hon. Paschal Baylon Dere stated that “after meeting held on Monday, December 5, 2016, to review the prevailing security climate, anchored on the recent happenings in the district as well as the district being designated as a security flashpoint has resolved that the operations of West Link FM be taken off-air with immediate effect until further notice.

The statement added “DISEC would like to use this medium to assure all inhabitants and stakeholders in the district that will continue to do what is appropriate to safeguard the peace in the district, before, during and after the elections.”

The statement concluded by adding that it regrets any inconvenience caused to the numerous clients and listeners of the radio station.
