Thumbprinted ballot papers fake – Police

kofi-boakyeThe Ashanti Regional Police has stated that the ballot papers intercepted in the Ashanti Region are fake.

A team of police personnel and some executives of the NPP led by the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi intercepted four bags of alleged thumbprinted ballot papers in a hotel at a place called TUC; Kumasi.

The said thumb-printed ballots are currently in the custody of the Central Police Command.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Kofi Boakye in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, Monday indicated that officials from the Electoral Commission have inspected the ballot papers and clarified that they are fake.

“There are no serial numbers and no thumbprint” he said.

The police are currently carrying out an investigation to ascertain how the bags of ballot papers got to the hotel room and who was incharge.
