Beyoncé headlined the Chime For Change: Sound of Change live event at Twickenham Stadium, organised to raise money for women’s and children’s rights.
The singer had a surprise in store when her rapper husband joined her on stage for a performance of their 2003 hit single Crazy In Love.
Jay-Z could be seen wrapping his arm around the star’s waist while Beyoncé sported a wide smile and worked the stage in a leather bodysuit.
At one point the couple shared a kiss, inspiring the crowd to go wild.
“He came on and the crowd went absolutely crazy. No-one was expecting it. He gave her a big kiss on the cheek as he walked on stage,” a source told MailOnline.
“They looked more in love than ever and so proud of each other. He was utterly besotted with her,” the insider said.
The display was a far cry from their media-shy early days as a couple.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z recorded Crazy in Love while they were still dating in 2003 but neither star was open to probing questions about their budding romance at the time.
They finally married in 2008 after several years together.
The couple are now coming down from rampant rumours suggesting Beyoncé is pregnant with their second child. They welcomed daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012.
Beyoncé appeared to settle those rumours with an online post this week.
The star shared a photo of herself sitting on Jay-Z’s lap and drinking a glass of wine.
Chime for Change raised $4.3 million for charity organisations worldwide.
Other performers at the event included Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, John Legend and Florence + The Machine, among others.
