Martin Kinaata known in Showbiz as Kofi Kinaata has expressed disappointment in the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) board for snubbing his song ‘Confession’ in the popular song of the year category.
According to Kofi Kinaata, he has been robbed by the awards board because there is no song in Ghana that is popular than his song (Confession) considering the year under review of the awards. Kofi Kinaata challenged the GMA board to mention any current song that is popular than his nationally acclaimed song. Speaking to Nana Kwame the Master Planner on ‘OC Showbiz Review’ (A weekly entertainment review programme) on Skyy Power 93.5 MHz over the weekend, Kofi Kinaata revealed that he filed ‘Confession’ for popular song of the year but it was ‘disdained.’
“I asked them (the awards board) why ‘Confession’ was not nominated in the popular song of the year category and they said it was a mistake. If it’s a mistake, correct it. What kind of robbery is that?” aggrieved Highgrade Family signed Kinaata expressed.
Meanwhile there are arguments on traditional and social media whether the ‘Confession’ song which was nominated in the ‘Highlife Song of the year’ category fits to be tagged as a highlife song.
