A PRISON officer, ACO Nana Yaw Antwi, has been shot and killed while his colleague, Sergeant Paul Gyan, is in critical condition and on admission at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
ACO Nana Yaw Antwi was killed by armed robbers when the car they were traveling in was fired into by armed robbers at Akokoa on the Atebubu-Kumasi Road.
According to Superintendent Joseph Atsu Dzinaku, the Atebubu-Amantin Police Commander, the incident occurred on the Atebubu-Kumasi Highway when armed robbers shot into the vehicle of the Nana Yaw Antwi and Sergeant Paul Gyan.
“The two attended a programme at Kwame Danso and were returning to Accra. Around 5am, Monday four armed robbers attacked a Nissan Patrol with registration number GN 9876-16 in which the two were travelling killing ACO Nana Yaw Antwi instantly and injuring Sergeant Paul Gyan in the process. The pistol of Sergeant Gyan was also taken away from him”.
The body of the late ACO Nana Yaw Antwi has been deposited at the St. Matthias Hospital Morgue at Yeji waiting autopsy.
