In modesty but with class, Ghana celebrated its 60th Independence Anniversary on March 6 to showcase to the world our democratic achievements since independence.
The event which took place successfully under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration wouldn’t have been the same had the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remained in power.
The above, was a remark passed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
According to the NPP scribe, had the NDC put together the event, damaging controversies would have been up for major discussions- outshining the milestone the nation has chalked.
Prior to the Ghana@60 celebration, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, inaugurated a 30-member Committee to plan the celebration of event.
The Committee had just six weeks to plan the event and Mr. Antwi Boasiako, has congratulated them for the wonderful work they have done.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com in an interview, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako noted that the event would have looked like a ‘Kiddafest’ show for children rather than one that complements the country’s age if the NDC had been in charge.
KIDDAFEST is an event which gives children the platform to exhibit their creative talents in various forms including dance.
He took a swipe at the deputy General Scretary of the NDC, Mr, Anyidoho noting that he would have looted state properties if they were in power.
According to him, “Koku Anyidoho would have been busy for nothing going round looking for opportunities to do the country in. Stan Dogbe would have also shifted his attention on printing souvenirs like presidential dairies and end up incurring huge debt for the nation to pay whilst lining his pocket.
NDC wouldn’t have acted serious in organising a national event so in the end we would have a disorganized event that only children can enjoy. It would be like the kiddafest show, though educative and fun, only children of a certain age can enjoy”, he said.
He went further to state that to make matters worse, NDC foot soldiers would have forced their way to the Independence grounds in their party colours without caring about its implication if they were still in power.
“They (NDC foot soldiers) would have been at the parade grounds in their party t-shirts and marched alongside our security forces. If you dare stop them, Aseidu Nketia would tell you that he has instructed them to do it and ex-president Mahama would have watched on haplessly”, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako added.
