The maiden edition of Western Music Awards organised by Westline Entertainment has received backlash from some patrons who have criticised the awards for excluding some names and songs in the nomination list which was released last week.
A Dancehall Artiste/Rapper, Ras Ebo has joined the criticising bandwagon, calling on the organisers to take his name out from the nominations. Even though he has received three (3) nominations, Ras Ebo is piqued by the fact that his popular songs ‘Kuush Style’ and ‘Efie Nyimpa’ were not nominated.
According to him, these two songs are his strength and he was sure of winning awards with them if they were nominated. “Without these two songs which are popular in the Region, I don’t think I have any business in the awards. I am not interested. They should take my name out” Ras Ebo told www.233times.net.
Speaking to the organisers of the awards, this Reporter was told that Ras Ebo has officially informed them that he is no longer interested and has pulled out. The organisers will heed to Ras Ebo’s call as he has made it known to them, this Reporter is told.
“The ‘Kussh style’ song was condemned by the awards board for being a profane song that is why they didn’t nominate it but if you listen to the song you will realise that it is not profane” Ras Ebo said.
Ras Ebo mentioned that he will participate in subsequent awards by the organisers but he is not interested in this year’s because of the exclusion of his popular songs.
The maiden edition of the Western Music Awards is set to come off 29th April, 2017 at the plush Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi.
