Young Albert needs a total of GHc 5,000 to undergo a chemotherapy. The 10-year-old boy is currently at the Oncology ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after being diagnosed with cancer of the bone. He suffered this calamity when he was playing football with his colleagues and he was shoved by one of the players.

Wenette Hope Foundation, during one of their visits to the Korlu-Bu Teaching Hospital uncovered Albert’s ordeal. Efforts are ongoing to help raise the GHc5,000 in total cost to help Albert to be active again. BACKGROUND OF STORY

Just like any typical and young lad, Albert had gone to the neighbourhood field to play the game of football with his mates. The ball went from goalpost to goalpost as the pockets of onlookers cheered on their favourites. But on that fateful day, a young boy entered into one of the most shattering and nerve wrecking ordeals in his young life. Albert got shoved by one of the players and that is when his nightmare began.

He was rushed home and was treated by his mother, using the traditional first aid methods she knew, thinking that it was going to be alright with her little boy. As minutes turned to hours and into days, it dawned on his parents that, their little son, full of life had his shoulder blade area getting swollen! Their happy son could not lift his left hand and was writhing in excruciating pain.

He had to be sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital to be examined. Upon arrival and examination, he was admitted to the orthopaedic ward of the hospital (child division). And that is how WENETTE HOPE FOUNDATION met Albert during a visit to the ward on the 29th Of April 2017. “Money has become a problem” his father sadly said. “Just this week, we have spent a huge sum of money, and things do not seem better, we do not even know where next help will come from.” He said exasperatedly. Nothing much needed to be said to describe the emotional, physical and financial stress the family is facing.
