We won’t defend any corrupt official in Mahama administration – NDC Organiser

mahama..The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned officials in the erstwhile Mahama administration who would be found culpable of engaging in acts of corruption to get ready to face the music solely.

Anthony Nukpenu said the NDC is ready to end the era when supporters of political parties always thronged the courts to support persons from former administrations to protest their trials.

“This opposition is not ready to defend any person which would be proven to have engaged in corrupt acts in the former administration…NDC is not going to defend any rot…If you are found culpable, go and defend your troubles,” he warned.

Supporters of various political parties especially the NDC and the NPP always storm the premises of courts and investigative bodies in their numbers when members belonging to their parties are either standing trial or under investigations.

The supporters form various pressure groups to press home their demand for the freeing of the person standing trial.

However, Anthony Nukpenu speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday said the party is not prepared to form any group to support persons who would be charged ‘genuinely’.

“If it is proven that you were indeed corrupt, why should I follow you?… I wouldn’t want to follow anybody like that…,” he said.

The NDC Organiser also claimed that acts of corruption usually occur largely as a result of the failure of some ministers to review ‘last minute’ documents given them to append their signatures.

“I have told my minister colleagues not to sign any document that is presented to them after 4:00 pm in the name of emergency…that’s where the corrupt acts are hidden…,” he said.
