On July 23 2014, at a colourful private ceremony in Accra, Squadi-Yie signed one of Ghana’s outstanding sound engineers. Dr. Ray Beats.
Dr. Ray Beats known in private life as Nana Yaw Nkrumah has produced a plethora of Sidney’s songs like ‘Foorso’, ‘Mutashi’, ‘Sokoo’, ‘Sweet 4 ma sweet’, and the all time hit, ‘Sikadiee basaa’ featuring Countryman Songho.
Squadi-Yie Entertainment which was created by friends of Barima Sidney after he ended his contract with Goodies Music in 2004 has produced Barima Sidney’s albums like ‘Scenti Noo’, ‘Obiaa nye Obiaa’, ‘African Money’, ‘Kpongor Kpongor’, amongst others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Barima Sidney mentioned that “Anytime I work with Dr. Ray, my creative instincts are challenged so I am happy that Squadi-Yie Entertainment has signed him so that we could work on more projects. I feel like today is my birthday. I am happy my brother has agreed to be a member of Squadi-Yie Entertainment.”
Dr. Ray Beats also revealed that Barima Sidney is one of his favourite Artistes in Ghana so “I am privileged to be a member of Squadi-Yie Entertainment. This is more of a dream come true because when I was not known in the music industry, Barima Sidney is one of the Artistes I dreamt of producing for so today is a dream come true.”
