Abraham Attah who was selected by government as the ambassador for the project met with the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh at the Education Ministry’s conference room in Accra on June 22, 2017, to finalise the deal in spearheading the campaign on sensitizing the public about the ‘Free Senior High School’ project.
The ‘Free Senior High School’ project was a major campaign promise of the governing New Patriotic Party during the 2016 electioneering period and is expected to begin in the next academic year, September 2017 starting with the first year students.
The Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said President Akufo-Addo brought this initiative to give every Ghanaian child the opportunity to have and enjoy secondary education.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Education Minister emphasised that Abraham Attah was selected as the ambassador for the project because he is a role model to his peers and that will encourage young people to buy into the idea of the project.
He noted that although he’s schooling outside, he’s still a Ghanaian icon and that should be a good reason to make him an ambassador for the project.
Abraham Attah was recently honoured by his school, Cheshire Academy in the United States of America for recording a perfect score of 4.0 GPA in his first year.
The young actor has been enjoying constant growth in the limelight since he featured in the movie, “Beast of No Nations” alongside Idris Elba and also winning the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Male Lead Young Actor for his role in the movie.
