Teenage Mother murders her day-old Baby

poujgq2bcw1x2aiA 16-year-old girl has murdered and buried, on her father’s palm plantation, her freshly delivered day-old baby girl in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region.

The single teenage mother, who already has a two-year old girl, delivered the second child on Friday around 4pm at a village called Niifio, where she committed the infanticide.

She has been identified as Esi and currently in the grips of the Suhum Police.

Local Reporter Daniel Bampoe told XYZ News that Esi confessed to the infanticide after she was spotted by her sister, shivering as she emerged out of the bushes with a hoe in hand.

He says Esi’s elder sister, Augusta Abena and brother, together with some village folk hustled her back to the bush where she had buried the baby girl.

The child’s body was dug out and deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

Augusta Abena, who caused Esi’s arrest by the Police, told Journalists that her sister is not known to have any mental problem and so found it bewildering that she would commit such a crime.

Esi and her siblings lost their mother two years ago.

They only have their farmer-father who takes care of them.
