33yr old defiles 2yr old girl, rapes granny, 94

A 33-year-old Kenyan man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a two-year-old minor. Samuel Thiong’o was also handed 94 years in jail for a second offence of raping his 94-year-old grandmother.

The convict defiled the girl a few minutes after raping his grandmother before escaping. Thiong’o committed the first offence on August 15, 2016 and the second offence on October 11, 2016 at Gacharage-ini village in Mathioya Constituency, Murang’a County in Kenya.

Police say the father of one was arrested and jailed in 2013 after he was found having sex with a cow less than 500 metres from his grandmother’s home. He was released in 2015. In his judgement Friday, Kangema Senior Resident Magistrate, Dennis Muigai Kivuti, described the accused as a serial rapist who should be kept away from the society. The magistrate said the sentence should serve as a deterrent to stop such incidents from happening again. Samuel Thiong’o was caught by his 19 year-old-cousin, Stephen Macharia, after he heard the grandmother shouting for help as he walked home. Mr Thiong’o reportedly broke into her grandmother’s house around 7pm where she was alone sleeping and committed the heinous act.

The mother of the toddler said she had gone to deliver tea at the collection centre and had left her baby in the care of her 11-year-old sister. “I left the two eating, when I came back I heard that Thiong’o was here and broke my door and tried to defile the eldest, she managed to escape leaving the young girl behind,” said the mother.
