Afia Schwarz and Abrokwa case take new twist

The legal battle between television host and comedienne, Valentina Nana Agyeiwa aka Afia Schwarzenegger, has taken a dramatic turn with the outspoken lady accusing her former husband of stealing $2,000 and 500 pounds sterling from her.

The two are in court after accusing her ex-husband, Lawrence Abrokwa, of recording and distributing a video showing her nakedness.

He was hauled before an Accra circuit court and is facing five charges, including two counts of domestic violence, threat to harm, assault and publication of obscene material. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

But the case has taken a new twist following a decision by the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong, to amend the charge sheet to include stealing, carrying offensive weapon and causing unlawful damage.

Per the new charges, Afia Schwarzenegger is accusing the former husband of breaking her bedside drawer and stealing an amount of $2,000 and 500 pound sterling.

She is also accusing him of taking all the belongings of a man whom Afia was allegedly having sexual intercourse with.

Although the charges have been amended, Lawrence Abrokwa is to be on his old bail term of GH¢20,000 with three sureties.

According to the new facts as presented by Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong, the accused was living with Afia in her Dome Pillar 2 house in Accra, but decided to pack out following recurrent disagreements.

He said, the accused, on August 30, 2017 was informed by the housemaid that Afia had a male visitor who would be spending the night with her.

The accused then went to the house and managed to enter by scaling the wall.

He then deflated the tires of the car belonging to Afia’s male visitor and entered the room through the back door with the help of the housemaid.

Chief Inspector Oppong told the court that Mr Lawrence Abrokwa was allegedly wielding a knife and a bottle of acid with which he threatened Afia Schwarzenegger and the man she was reportedly sleeping with.

He said the accused entered the room with his phone camera on and forced Afia to strip herself naked, kneel down and confess that she is a prostitute.

He then recorded the nakedness of Afia, which he later distributed on social media.

The case has been adjourned to January 6, 2018.
