Mrs Ernestina Naadu MillsThe former first lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Ernestina Naadu Mills has extended her project, The Ghana First Lady High School Bible project to the Awudome Senior High School at Tsito in the Volta Region after the successfully distributing of Bibles to students of Aburi and Achimota Senior High Schools in separate engagements a few weeks back.

At a presentation ceremony over the weekend, Dr. (Mrs) Ernestina Naadu Mills asked the students not only to cultivate the habit of reading, but also practice the word of God; this she said will guide them to be successful.

Addressing the students, the former first lady advised the students that “careful reading and practice of God’s word will keep you out of trouble in school, it will keep you out of trouble with the law of this country and it will guide you to be successful citizens.”

Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills explained that “There is great reward in reading and obeying Gods word. The word of God also teaches young people wisdom and discipline; it will also help you to do what is right, just and fair.”

She encouraged the students to devote themselves to Jesus Christ and develop a personal relationship with him, which she said will be of their own profit.

She expressed joy to visit the school and to be part of the school’s Sunday worship service, adding that encouraging people in the Bible use continues to be her passion and service.

The Bible project, which was launched at the former first lady’s alma mater, Aburi Girls were aimed at inculcating the habit of reading the Holy book into the life of students in Senior High Schools across the country in order to shape their moral life.

Mrs. Naadu Mills showed appreciation to Dr. Taylor, the president and Chief Executive Officer of Tyndale Publishers for ceding to her request to print the Bibles at a moderate price.

She disclosed that that, the Tyndale House will provide Five Hundred Thousand Bibles at a local market value of Ten Million Ghana Cedis (GHC10, 000,000) which will be distributed SHS students across the country.

“Reaching out to future leaders with the powerful word of God is my deepest passion. My aim was to encourage and inspire all Students in SHS to become Godly, useful and productive citizens of this country,” she added.

On his part, the Volta Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, who was also present at the function, emphasized the need for greater discipline among SHS students.

According to him reading the Bible every day will help the students to be responsible and good citizens of the country, adding that “To be a good leader, you need to be disciplined, and the bible is there to guide you”.
