Renowned Ghanaian actress and film producer, Kafui Danku, has revealed that she has gone through a lot of difficult moments in her life, hinting marital issues that she has been hiding from the public.
She stated that she is now ready to speak but she would be breaking her silence in an upcoming memoir titled ‘Silence Is Not Golden’.
Kafui’s pronouncement comes at a time women around the world are being encouraged to speak up about the unfair treatments they suffer from men, including sexual harassment.
She announced the book at a press event on Wednesday at AH Hotel in Accra by unveiling its cover, and said it will officially be launched in February at a yet-to-be confirmed date. But it is available for pre-order ahead of the launch.
Kafui indicated that the book is aimed at inspiring other women who suffer similar fate as her to speak up.
She refused to give details of the content of the book but she didn’t rule out marriage issues as some of the things readers should watch out for.
“The last few years of my life have been very challenging and filled with circumstances and stress. So when I was going through that face of my life I realised that a lot of other women were also going the same face due to emotions that were suppressed. I have suffered in silence,” she said as she explained the rationale behind the book.
She revealed that a year later, the book will be adapted into a movie for the sake of people who do not enjoy reading.
The actress and mother of one attended the media event without her wedding ring on, and her explanation was that the ring gave her a skin reaction and she decided to remove it.
