Vanessa Limann, winner of Maiden Edition of President’s Pitch has revealed that her WASSCE results were withheld because she owed GHC1000 school fees.
Narrating how she sailed through to become winner of the competition organised by the newly created Business Development Ministry, which saw over 2000 people submit their business ideas for an opportunity to receive funding for the growth of their business, Vanessa told Francis Abban on Morning Starr it’s the grace of God and hard work that has brought her this far.
“My results were withheld after WASSCE because I owed school fees. My results were released about 3 months ago after I paid my fees which were 1000ghs”.
Vanessa Limann who hails from Upper West Region of Ghana and a graduate of Methodist Girls’ High School disclosed that she began the enterprise with an initial capital of GHC500 three months ago and after initial hitches, the business has started to find its feet.
“I completed SHS last year and I was idle at home, I had nothing to do so I decided to market my mother’s products thus going from shop to shop and also partaking in trade fairs. So it was 6months ago that we partook in international trade fair and as I looked around I saw people with different products and I wanted to do something that will generate money for myself so I decided to come out with my own product through research on the internet and I have some knowledge on cereals and that’s how I was able to come with my own product, market it and brand it”.
Being the winner of an ultimate prize of GH?50,000 from the competition, President Akufo-Addo in addition donated GH¢25,000 of his GH¢29,000 monthly salary to Vanessa.
She also stressed her desire to expand the business which is currently located in Sissala West District of the Upper West Region to other parts of the country.
“I want to expand my business. I want to expand more in the Sisala West District so I can create more jobs for the people especially the young ladies residing there”, she told Francis.
