“Investigate Anas” – Ken Agyapong t To General Legal Council

Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has petitioned the General Legal Council to investigate lawyer and investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and possibly sanction him for allegedly engaging in what he describes as “professional misconduct.”

Mr. Agyapong has accused Anas of collecting money from some alleged criminals to shield them from facing the law.

Mr. Agyapong in a 45-minute video he captioned: “Who watches the watchman,” depicted separate meetings in which a narrator claimed that some of the footages were attempts by Anas to shield certain criminals from being punished by the law after they allegedly duped a foreigner of millions of dollars in a gold scam.

“Respectfully, in the said documentary, Anas Aremeyaw Anas was seen and heard in a conversation with someone it later turned out to be a Chief State Attorney by name, Ellen Kwakume discussing how both must collaborate and successfully work towards tainting evidence gathered by Anas Aremeyaw Anas against three suspects therein namely, Mohammed Hafiz, Mubarak Seidu and Prince Kinston Kwame who were later charged as 1st, 2ndand accused, respectively.”

“Interestingly, Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed to the Chief State Attorney that the suspects had bought him with $100,000, paid 75,000 to Mr. Frank Adu Poku, the then CID Director-General and also paid $5,000 into the account of the Chief State Attorney in order to taint the evidence and make the case foolish,” the MP stated in his petition.

Mr. Agyapong in his petition said an alleged search conducted at the Registry of the Criminal Division, High Court, Accra, has revealed that “the case was indeed dismissed for want of a prosecution.”

“Thus, by the foregoing reasons, it is my humble opinion that such professional misconduct should not be countenanced at the Bar, and therefore urge your revered Council to conduct thorough investigation into the behaviour of Anas Aremeyaw Anas.”

Kennedy Agyapong premieres “Who watches the watchman” video

Mr. Agyapong screened the “Who watches the watchman” video on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in conjunction with Salis Newspaper at the forecourt of Oman FM.

In the video, a person alleged to be Anas was seen having a discussion in Hausa with two people who were revealed in the video as Mubarak and Baba Tunde.

Per the information provided in the video, the two were part of an alleged gold scam that reportedly duped a company of $5 million.

Anas, the video claimed, was hired by the company to investigate the scandal and trace the scammers to enable the company to recover the money.

In the video, Mubarak and Tunde seemed to be telling the supposed Anas to skew the investigations in their favour, so that one of their accomplices by name Hafiz would be held accountable for the gold scam.

The supposed Anas was heard reassuring the two people that he would do everything possible to exonerate them, if only they would testify against the said Hafiz.

I’m willing to help in the investigation

Mr. Agyapong in his petition further assured the Council of his readiness to assist in investigations.

“…I am also indicating to the Council my willingness to appear before the Council and assist in unraveling the truth or otherwise.”

#Number12 video

This comes on the back of the screening of Anas’ #Number12 video which supposedly captured corruption in Ghana football.

Anas and his Tigereye PI team published a video in June 2018 which captured top officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and over 70 referees in supposed acts of corruption.

Retired State Attorney demands an apology from Kennedy Agyapong

The retired State Attorney mentioned in Mr. Agyapong’s narration, Ellen Kwakukume, has already demanded a public retraction and an apology from Kennedy Agyapong and Salis Newspaper for deliberately distorting audiovisual images to tarnish her reputation.

Mrs. Kwawukume in a statement said Kennedy Agyapong and Salis Newspaper took bits and pieces of an earlier video recording to create an erroneous impression to further a campaign against investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
