CAF Confed Cup: Aduana Beat AS Vita Club

Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup competition, Aduana Stars, secured their first win at the group stage o after beating Congolese giants AS Vita Club 2-1 at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park in Dormaa.

The Ghanaian Champions downed the Congolese Champions to give themselves a lifeline in the competition.

Striker Bright Adjei lashed home from inside the area after receiving a forceful pass from striking partner Yahaya Mohammed.

The Dormaa lads doubled their lead from a perfect header by Yahaya Mohammed who met Caleb Amankwah’s cross from the right.

Mundele pulled a goal back for the visiting team from a free kick following poor goalkeeping by Joseph Addo who allowed AS Vita back in the game.

Aduana Stars, however, held onto their lead and maintained their composure in the second half despite some threats by the attacking forces of AS Vita Club who caused problems for the Aduana Stars defense in the second half.

The win leaves Aduana Stars on 4 points in the group, same point as AS Vita Club.

Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s side will next visit Congo for the return encounter against AS Vita Club. Later this evening Raja Casablanca will be guests to  ASEC Mimosa.
