A driver who allegedly gave a 14-year old girl one Ghana cedi to buy him yoghurt but ended up defiling her, has been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
George Owusu is said to have given the victim another GH¢ 20.00 cedis after the act.
Charged with defilement, Owusu has pleaded not guilty.
Owusu is expected to reappear before the Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku on August 28.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire narrated that the complainant is a labourer and step father to the victim. The complainant and the victim reside at Sakumono.
According to prosecution Owusu also reside in the same area.
On July 29, this year, at about 12:30 pm, the victim was walking around the vicinity when the accused person saw her and gave her one Ghana cedi to buy yoghourt for him.
Prosecution said the victim after fruitless search for the yoghurt within the vicinity came back to inform the accused person that she did not get some of the yoghurt.
According to the Prosecutor, Owusu took advantage of that and lured the victim into his room and had sex with the victim on his bed and gave her GH¢ 20.00
Later Prosecution said the complainant got wind of the incident and reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Sakumono where a medical form was issued to him to seek medical care for the victim.
Prosecution said when the victim returned the endorsed Medical report, accused was picked up by the Police.
Owusu has however denied the offence in his caution statement.
