Entrepreneur in court over two dud cheques

A 39-year-old entrepreneur has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for issuing two dud cheques.

Kelvin Kwaku Yeboah, charged with two counts of issuing false cheques, pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye admitted Yeboah to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000.00 with two sureties who are gainfully employed.

Yeboah is expected to reappear on September 10.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Emmanuel Haligah said the complainant Araba Ofori is the Director of Goldsteps Microfinance Company located at Darkuman. Yeboah resides at Tema Community 25.

On 12th May, 2016, Yeboah went to the Goldsteps Microfinance Office and took a loan of GH¢48,600.00 and promised to pay within one year.

Prosecution said Yeboah subsequently issued two Fidelity Bank post dated cheques to be cashed on December 14, 2016 and July 12, 2017 respectively by the company but the two cheques were dishonoured.

Prosecution said the complainant made several efforts to get in touch with the accused person to meet and discuss how best the issue would be resolved but all to no avail.

On January 16, this year, a report was made to the Police, the prosecutor said.

The prosecution said on May 4, this year, Yeboah was arrested and in his caution statement he admitted the offence and made part payment of GH¢10,000.00 to the Police.
