Assault Police’ Case Adjourned To September 26

The Accra Circuit Court has directed the prosecutors in the Midland Savings and Loans assault trial to give the accused persons the facts sheet which comes with charge sheet.

Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor (Skalla), the police officer who allegedly assaulted one Patience Safo at the financial institution and three staff of the company have been charged with assault and abetment.

The four have all been granted bail in the sum of GHc60, 000 with two sureties each. The sureties the court said should not earn less than GHc500.

In court today, retired police officer Superintendent Francis Baah who held brief for lawyer Yaw Oppong for Joycelyn Kukua, (the operations manager), told the court that, they have not been given copies of the facts sheet which comes with the charges.

Other accused persons included Shirley Portia Ananman, in charge of customer care and Prince Ayensu, a staff driver.

Daily Heritage Court Correspondent, Muntalla Inusah who was in court reports that, their request was granted by the court.

All the accused persons were present in court, as the court, however, adjourned the matter to September 26.

At the last adjourned date, DSP Goege Amegah while describing the roles each of them played, told the court that Kukua after being approached by the victim for assistance called the police officer to drag her away.

Portia Anaman, he said took the video of the incident while Ayensu, the driver helped the police officer dragg the victim out of the office.

His lawyer, Kweku Adjei Lartey said section 73 of the court act allows for an out of court settlement.

The case has been adjourned to September 26, 2018.
