The Winneba Magistrate Court has sentenced Amos Krampah, unemployed, to a fine of GH¢600.00 for causing unlawful damage and stealing.
Amos Krampah, 29, a native of Winneba, pleaded not guilty but was sentenced to the fine or in default to serve six months in prison.
Prosecution Detective Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr Charles Oheneba-Kufour that Kofi Abbam, electrician and the complainant of the case resides at Winneba.
The prosecution said the complainant and her mother resides in the same house near “Olympic Arena” a popular guest house in Winneba.
Inspector Agbelie said a month ago, the complainant’s mother relocated to her current house at Low Cost, a suburb of Winneba, and on 14th September, at 1730 hrs, the complainant returned from work and met Krampah with a chisel and hammer breaking into his mother’s room.
He said immediately Krampah saw the complainant approaching him, he attempted to flee but he was apprehended and brought to the Winneba Police Station where an official complaint was lodged.
In his cautioned statement the convict admitted the offence and stated amongst others that though he caused damage to the door lock, he did not gain access to the room, Inspector Agbelie said.
After investigations, he was charged with the offence and brought before the court, the prosecution said.
