Some shop owners at the Kasoa New Market in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region will soon lose their shops due to non-compliance.
This follows persistent calls by the Awutu Senya East Municipality for shop owners to produce documents pertaining to the acquisition of the shops at the market.
In an interview, Isaac Ofori, the Municipal Engineer for Awutu Senya East Municipality explained that they would demolish over 200 shops at the market because most shop owners do not have documents to prove that the structures they sell in belong to them.
He indicated that about a year ago, the Assembly began auditing shop owners as a way of finding out those who have paid their commitment fees as well as those who were yet to finish paying such fees.
Some also indicated that the Awutu Senya East Municipality should give them more time to produce the required documents.
