Gospel Singer Ernest Opoku to be arrested by Police

ernest_opokuAt a time that some industry people and people outside it are thinking some modus operandi are out of operation, a few artistes, especially gospel artistes are still falling foul to some little traps. Traps that have small cash value like Ghc.1500 which seems demeaning and unproductive to their career.

Well, if such people would want to be described as unscrupulous per their activities, journalists are always on the look out to expose such nefarious characters perpetrated by people in the industry. This is where Flex newspaper comes to expose those who need to be exposed and to promote those who need to be promoted. Now the story in detail:

Popular sound and recording engineer Roland Ackah aka Roro is not happy with gospel artiste Ernest Opoku and he will be heading to the police station soon to make sure Ernest will be arrested the moment he touches down at the Kotoka International Airport. Knowing very well the background of these two in the gospel arena, it comes as a shocking revelation to know that there is a bad blood running through them.

The story is such that Roro of Rockah House of Music contracted Ernest Opoku to perform for an All night service (watch night) at Apostolic Faith Mission headed by man of God Apostle De-Graft Osei Kwame located close to Sakaman Junction in Dansoman. When the agreement was reached, Ernest Opoku agreed to a fee of Ghc. 1500 with a notice that half of the money should be paid to him and his management. The full payment was to be made on the Last Friday in July which happened to be the day of the watch night service.

Therefore on the Tuesday in the fateful concert week, a check up call was put through Ernest Opoku to ascertain his well being only to be told by somebody who answered his (Ernest) call that Ernest Opoku had been involved in a motor accident somewhere in Nkawkaw. To show solidarity and concern towards the injured or wounded artiste, Roro decided to know where he had been admitted so he could visit him but the person told Roro he does not know where he had been admitted. Frequent calls to Ernest Opoku`s phone later, was responded by a switched off voice prompt.

At this point, Roro was alerted that something seems to be going wrong with their arrangement and he started ringing all his alarm bells. He called the manager who had been dealing with him on the agreement of the performance. The manager who is at large according to reports also told Roro that he had been trying to reach Ernest Opoku at that same time but he could not reach him so he (Roro) could come for the second instalment of Ghc. 500 which was given to the manager. The manager`s name was given as Enoch and all attempts to get his side of the story have proved futile since he is not answering our calls.

According to Roro, colleague sound engineer K.D who is based in Kumasi called to inform him that Ernest has traveled to Italy so he should forget about his coming for the show in Accra on the said date. Roro nearly wept because time was close and his name and images have been used on posters and announcements in publicizing the show so his refusal to attend the show will mean a huge disgrace to him as the sponsor of the main music and performance segment.

“I was saved by O.J on the night who had to come in at the last hour to salvage the situation at hand. Our legal team in the church were planning to take him on but I have apologized on his behalf that they should hold on with the law suit. What we intend to do is to report the matter to the police and make sure he is arrested upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport to retrieve our money from him. Ernest Opoku lied to me that he was involved in an accident and bolted to Italy. I have received several calls from people telling me he has treated them same and that he is fond of such behaviour. I will make sure this will be his last stop for doing things of that nature to people when they engage him in any business” Roro told Flex newspaper on phone last Monday.
