Two granted bail after attempt to work ‘juju’ on Nana Addo, Otumfuo, others

The Volta Regional Police Command has granted bail to the two persons who were arrested last week over an attempt to cast a spell on the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and other top officials of the government.

The two, who were arrested on Wednesday December 5 in a shrine at Weta within the Ketu North Municipality, spent more than the stipulated 48 hours in police custody before they granted bail on Saturday December 8, according to DCOP Francis Ebenezer Doku, the Regional Police Commander.

He confirmed the bail to some journalists on Monday, saying the Police Service is only working to protect the country’s security, which the two persons nearly breached.

He said the bail is a “temporary freedom.”

The perpetrators, Shepherd Acolatse 55, and Ebenezer Atsu 33, who are both residents of Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region, sent the names of the President and his appointees, as well as the name of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene to a traditional priest to cast a spell on them.

The two men said they wanted to put the leaders under the control of black magic because they [the politicians] want to divide the Volta Region into two, which they are against.

On the list were names of the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, Regional Reorganization Minister, Dan Botwe, Chairman of the Commission of Inquiries, Justice Brobbey, Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II and Dr. Obed Asamoah, a senior citizen and a proponent of the Oti region.

Meanwhile, Shepherd Acolatse and Ebenezer Atsu have said that they were assigned to send the names to the shrine by another man called John.
