300..1.1615529Reports from Walewale in Northern Region indicate the Walewale district police station has been set ablaze by supposed students of the Walewale Senior High Technical school.

This was in protest against the arrest of two of their colleagues on Monday.

According to an eyewitness, Bassit Abdul Karim the students on Sunday, embarked on a demonstration and accused the headmaster of selectively admitting students from the Bimoba Community and rejecting those from Walewale Township.

The demonstration he said, started at about 22:30 pm to 23:00pm on Sunday and the headmaster of the school was chased out.

He added that the angry students vandalized school property including computers and television sets that belonged to the headmaster.

“All windows were destroyed and all computers that were given to the school were taken away from the computer laboratory” he added.
