President John Dramani Mahama has released 10 million cedis into a special yet-to-be-launched Fund to reduce youth unemployment in the country.
Ghanaian youths who have been struggling to gain employment would soon be assisted by the fund to become business owners. That is if they have brilliant ideas to start their own trade.
Joseph Yammin, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, told Joy News the fund is “open to anybody who has a very good proposal which can yield fruit and repay its facility that has been given to him”.
He said government expects beneficiaries to also absorb other unemployed youths.
The fund is coming at the back of similar programs such as GYEEDA, which have been embroiled in either corruption or non-payment of beneficiaries.
With this new Fund, Mr. Yammin says the secretariat, which would be set up at the presidency would keenly monitor and assess its progress.
