Prez. Mahama to those predicting his defeat in 2016: You will be disappointed

6007ACAD-3B04-4C38-BF69-D13AFC816FDC_cx7_cy6_cw89_mw1024_s_nPresident John Mahama has served notice to his political detractors predicting his electoral defeat in 2016, that they will be disappointed if they hinge their analysis on the prevailing economic challenges.

He has reassured the nation that the economic situation will turn around in no time.

President John Mahama was speaking in Tamale in the Northern Region at a sod cutting ceremony to complete the abandoned Aboabo Shea nut and grains market which was built by the Acheampong regime decades ago.

He told the large gathering that despite the economic challenges, government is on course to initiate the construction of new projects and complete abandoned ones.

The president said government was committed to re-position Tamale as the commercial hub of Northern Ghana.

Acting Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha said all abandoned market projects in the country will be completed.

He predicted that the project which is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Trade in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Tamale Metro Assembly is expected to be ready for use in 18 months.

Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Muniru emphasized that peace is the prerequisite for development for which reason residents of the area must be law abiding.

The Regional Minister said all communities in the region will have their reasonable share of development projects.

Alhaji Limuna commended traditional authorities in the region for collaborating with government and its development partners to improve the living conditions of all.

Ahead of the commencement of construction works at the abandoned Aboabo supermarket, occupants of the incomplete building, mainly Shea nut dealers, were relocated to the Kukuo market.
