Apeatu is Ghana’s IGP

thumbThe president Nana Akufo-Addo has named DCOP David Asante Appeatu as new Inspector General of Police. He takes over from John Kudalor whose retirement was announced hours ago at the Flagstaff House.

He said the new IGP must lead a new vision for a police service where acts of violence and intimidation is abhored.

Few minutes before the announcement, the former Acting Inspector General of Police John Kudalor bid farewell to president Nana Akufo-Addo after an illustrious career as a police man.

He was however ready to serve in any capacity the president may deem fit.

In a meeting with the president the outgoing IGP was happy about a peaceful and successful election in 2016.

He said it was a great honour to have served in the highest position in the Police Service and paid glowing tribute to his colleagues for the great support given him.

The meeting held at the Flagstaff House, Wednesday, had Interior Minister designate Ambrose Dery and Executive Secretary to the president Nana Asante Bediatuo  all attending.
