The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahene Aidoo, says he would turn down any “outrageous” remuneration, like what was offered his predecessor, Dr Stephen Opuni.
It came in the news that, Dr. Opuni was receiving a monthly salary of GHc75,000 as COCOBOD CEO. This has sparked scads of criticisms in Ghana’s media space especially on social media. In an interview with host of the Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS), Samuel Kojo Brace on Thursday, Joseph Boahene Aidoo said “I’m not that greedy to receive such monies as pay.”
According to Boahene Aidoo, Dr. Opuni is the first to receive such outrageous monthly salary. “Oh no, his (Opuni) predecessor was not taking that money” he told JBS listeners.
According to him, his heart skipped a beat when he saw the amount Dr. Opuni was receiving every month. He confirmed that, the work of a CEO of COCOBOD demands a lot. He sometimes close 10:30 pm since he took over from Dr. Opuni. Regardless of the demanding nature of the office, he would receive something far less than what Dr. Opuni was taking as remuneration, Boahene Aidoo told listeners of JBS in Takoradi.
